Mobility Parking
All city councils around New Zealand provide mobility parking spaces throughout their city or town. To be eligible we first are assessed by our doctor – we must meet very specific criteria. We then pay a small fee to receive the card which is valid for five years – or less if our mobility is impaired temporarily. Once we receive our mobility card we have the right to use mobility parks – and must display our card correctly every time.
If you park illegally in a mobility park you may receive a parking ticket. The fine for this misdemeanour recently increased to $140.
